Project Scope
Boyan Josic wanted to take advantage of the recent flurry of social networking sites out there and produce a site that was aimed specifically at the modelling and fashion industry. The idea was for models to be able to easily create their own specific page and advertise themselves to prospective agencies in an easy to view design that appealed to the target audience. It was imperative that the design was simple but effective in offering a perfect place for models to socialize with like-minded professionals, as well as showcase their recent work and offer their services to photographers and agencies
What we did
Personal User Profiles
The whole point of Model Dash was to showcase their profiles and offer themselves to photographers and agencies. With that in mind, we developed a system that allowed for various user levels, depending on who the person was that was signing up. Models could sign up and get access to a totally customisable profile page, in which they could upload photos, videos and also post information about themselves and their
measurements. Photographers and Agencies could also sign up and have their own page, but with the option to search models and link their profiles together for easier communication.
Calendar Booking System
A unique idea we developed within the model profiles was a Calendar Booking System. This system allowed models to quickly inform photographers of when they would be available for shoots, along with a booking system for photographers and agencies to take advantage of. With a simple click of their mouse, agencies could request a photoshoot with the model. The model could then accept or decline, and the calendar would be instantly updated to show the model booked for that date.
Featured Models / Content
The entire site ran through a bespoke content management system that allowed the admin to easily manage and control the content within the site. Along with that, the admin could also select specific models to feature on the sites homepage. The system automatically selected the users photograph, and posted it in prime position on the frontpage. This allowed for specific models to get extra exposure and also dominate the stunning frontpage gallery that was seen when you visited the site.
The End Result
At site launch, the client held a Launch-Party even with over 300 of the most prominent models and photographers in the industry. The site was showcased specifically to those people first, with extremely positive results.
The site offered a powerful, yet simple to use, community-driven site that far exceeded its rivals, and was a perfect place for models to communicate their visions and showcase their work.
